Rapper pulls out of London, Bristol, and Paris shows with no explanation
Doechii has abruptly pulled out of all her scheduled festival appearances on short notice. The TDE rapper was set to perform at London’s All Points East festival this Saturday (August 23), but the event announced she would no longer be attending.
In a statement, the festival said:
“Unfortunately, Doechii will no longer be able to perform at All Points East on Saturday August 23. We’d like to apologise to any disappointed fans and hope to welcome Doechii to All Points East in the future.”
Following the announcement, similar statements came from Forwards Bristol in the UK and Rock En Seine in Paris, France, confirming her cancellations there as well.
None of the festivals shared a reason for the sudden changes. Despite the cancellations, Doechii is still set to embark on her Live From the Swamp tour this October.
The rapper herself has not revealed why she pulled out of the festival dates.
Earlier this year, Doechii made headlines for calling out Donald Trump over immigration raids in Los Angeles. At the BET Awards, she turned her acceptance speech into a passionate critique of Trump’s policies and the government’s use of military force against protesters.
She said:
“There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order.”
She continued:
“Trump is using military forces to stop a protest. I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?”
Doechii added:
“People are being swept up and torn from their families. I feel like it’s my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people … We all deserve to live in hope and not fear. I hope we stand together.”
Several other prominent hip-hop artists, including Ice Cube, The Game, and Cardi B, have also criticized Trump and ICE for their aggressive actions against immigrant communities.
