Kendrick Lamar & SZA Make History With “Luther” and Record-Breaking Tour

“Luther” Breaks Chart Records as Grand National Tour Becomes Highest Grossing in Rap History

Kendrick Lamar has smashed yet another milestone, as his hit single “Luther” with SZA becomes the longest-running No. 1 in Hot Rap Songs chart history, spending an unprecedented 27 weeks at the top. The record-breaking streak surpasses his own previous high of 26 weeks with last year’s smash “Not Like Us.”

The track also enjoyed massive mainstream success, dominating the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 consecutive weeks, while Lamar’s GNX album has become a phenomenon in its own right — now crowned the longest-running No. 1 rap album in U.S. history with 22 weeks atop the charts, edging past Pop Smoke’s posthumous Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon (21 weeks).

Beyond the charts, Kendrick and SZA are rewriting the touring record books. Their Grand National tour has officially become the highest-grossing co-headlining rap tour of all time, raking in over $256 million from just 23 shows across North America. With an average of 48,000 fans per night, the tour has sold a staggering 1.1 million tickets.

Eminem-Backed WNBA Team Approved for Detroit as League Expands

Detroit, Philadelphia, and Cleveland Set to Join WNBA by 2029

The WNBA is making major moves, officially announcing its expansion to 18 teams — with Detroit, Philadelphia, and Cleveland set to receive new franchises. The Detroit team, backed by an ownership group that includes rap icon Eminem, will begin league play in 2029.

This marks a significant return for the WNBA to Detroit, a city with a rich basketball legacy. The team will be primarily funded by Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores, who celebrated the decision in a statement: “This is a huge win for Detroit and the WNBA… Our plans will bring new energy, investment, and infrastructure to our city and the league.”

Gores emphasized the diverse investment group supporting the team, which includes Eminem, Lions quarterback Jared Goff, and former NBA star Grant Hill. “I’m excited about what we can accomplish together to advance women’s professional sports and inspire a new generation of fans,” Gores added.

Eminem, a longtime Detroit sports supporter, has recently become a more visible presence in the city’s athletic scene. From hyping up Lions playoff runs to appearing at the NFL Draft and performing at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show, Slim Shady’s influence continues to grow — now extending into women’s basketball.

The move is being hailed as a major step forward for both Detroit and the WNBA.

Young Thug Teases NBA Youngboy Collab as Uy Scuti Hype Builds

Atlanta Rapper Sparks Fan Frenzy with New Music Previews and Streaming Ambitions

Young Thug has ignited speculation of a major collaboration with NBA YoungBoy, teasing fans on social media with a direct message to the Louisiana rapper. “YB, hit my phone, man,” Thug said in a video clip. “Somebody tell Top to call me. I need to ask him something.”

Fans immediately began theorizing that the two Southern rap heavyweights may be working on a new track, possibly for Thugger’s long-awaited album Uy Scuti, which he had previously promised would drop by the end of June.

Thugger recently gave fans a taste of what’s to come during his triumphant return to the stage at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival—his first live show since being released from jail. He previewed an unreleased song featuring Ken Carson and even brought out Travis Scott for a surprise set.

The moment was especially meaningful, as Thug was originally slated to perform at the 2022 edition of Summer Smash before his arrest on RICO charges.

Meanwhile, Thugger jokingly flirted with quitting rap to become a full-time streamer during a recent appearance on Adin Ross’ Kick stream. “I’m done rapping and gonna start streaming,” he joked, impressed by the laid-back lifestyle and hefty paychecks.

While Uy Scuti remains under wraps, one thing is clear—Young Thug isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Tragedy Strikes Mello Buckzz’s Album Release Party in Chicago

Drive-By Shooting Leaves 4 Dead, 14 Injured as Police Probe Possible Gang Involvement

What was meant to be a night of celebration for rising rapper Mello Buckzz turned into a scene of horror when a drive-by shooting outside her album release party left four people dead and 14 others injured.

The shooting occurred outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Among the victims were Buckzz’s boyfriend and a close female friend. Three others remain in critical condition as the investigation continues.

Mello Buckzz broke her silence on social media, sharing her heartbreak in a raw and emotional post: “We was having so much fun… glued to my hip everyday. I’m so fucking angry… My heart broke into so many pieces rn it’s unbelievable. Why is this happening to me?”

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson addressed the tragedy in a press conference, calling it a stark reminder of the city’s ongoing struggle with gun violence. “Shooting into a crowd is not the best of who we are,” he said. “It is unacceptable and we will not stand for that.”

CCTV footage shows a black SUV opening fire before speeding away. No suspects have been identified, but police suspect gang-related motives and are working with federal agencies to prevent potential retaliation.

Pusha T Reveals Def Jam Tried to Block Kendrick Lamar From Clipse Album

Clipse Part Ways With Label After Refusing to Censor “Chains & Whips” Verse

Pusha T has opened up about a surprising clash with Def Jam Records over Kendrick Lamar’s feature on Clipse’s upcoming album, Let God Sort Em Out—a dispute that ultimately led to the duo’s departure from the label.

In a new interview with Billboard, Pusha admitted he was blindsided by Def Jam’s reaction to Kendrick’s verse on the track “Chains & Whips.” “I was shocked by it, actually,” he said. “There was no ill intent in creating that song… it was totally a shock.”

According to Pusha, the label pressured him to ask Kendrick to censor his verse. When he refused, Def Jam escalated, demanding the song be removed entirely. After a month-long standoff, the label dropped Clipse altogether. “They wanted me to take the record off,” Pusha told GQ. “Steve Gawley over there said, ‘We’ll just drop the Clipse.’”

Despite rumors that Kendrick recorded the verse during his recent tour, Pusha clarified: “The vocals have been in, man. I just pulled up to the show for fun.”

Pusha also explained the collaboration came together organically, with Kendrick jumping on after hearing an early cut through a mutual connection: “Right place, right time made everything happen.”

Flavor Flav Urges Nationwide Gun Ban in Powerful Op-Ed

Public Enemy Icon Warns of “Domestic Errorism” Amid Gun Violence Crisis

Flavor Flav is calling on the U.S. government to enact a total ban on guns in a passionate op-ed published by Newsweek. The Public Enemy legend shared his personal experiences and fears, painting a stark picture of gun violence in America.

“I fear for my kids when I drop them off at school,” Flav wrote. “Our schools aren’t safe and our kids aren’t safe… Guns are falling into the hands of the wrong people. I would know. I went to jail because of guns.”

The hip-hop icon described fear as a root cause of the country’s gun obsession, writing: “America is being built on fear… People are fighting for gun rights to protect themselves. They wouldn’t have to if all guns were banned.”

Flav argued that school shootings have become so routine that society has become desensitized. “It’s barely in the news if it’s less than a handful of people who were killed,” he noted. “This is domestic errorism.”

The op-ed concludes with a call for unity and action, alongside the release of Public Enemy’s new protest anthem “March Madness.” Flav hopes the song will “spark change” and reignite dialogue around gun reform.

  • Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Smino Light Up New Single “Tree”

Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, and Smino Light Up New Single “Tree”

Weed Anthem Marks Third Collaboration Between Chance and Weezy Amid Album Tensions

Chance the Rapper has reunited with Lil Wayne for a hazy celebration of cannabis culture on their new single “Tree,” featuring fellow rapper Smino. The song marks the third collaboration between Chance and Wayne, following their standout appearances on “No Problem” (2016) and DJ Khaled’s chart-topping hit “I’m the One” (2017).

“Tree” is a laid-back, smoke-heavy anthem where the trio champions marijuana use with playful lyricism. However, Chance doesn’t hold back from criticizing legalized cannabis industries, rapping: “We love you, we smokin’ on big Uncle Sam / Dispensary weed is a government scam / My cousin my weed man, the plug is my man’s.”

Despite the release, Chance still hasn’t dropped a full project since 2019’s The Big Day, which received mixed reviews. His long-teased follow-up, Star Line, has been on hold—largely due to how fans address it.

Last year, the Chicago rapper voiced frustration over fans calling the project “the album” instead of its official title. “I’m not finna drop the album until y’all start calling it Star Line,” he said in an Instagram video. “Say it right—and maybe I’ll drop it sooner.”

For now, “Tree” offers fans a taste of Chance’s evolving artistry, even as Star Line remains on standby.

  • 2Pac’s Final Moments Revealed as Murder Trial Faces New Delay

2Pac’s Final Moments Revealed as Murder Trial Faces New Delay

Suge Knight Claims Rap Icon Asked to Be Killed After Las Vegas Shooting

In a startling new claim, Suge Knight has alleged that 2Pac pleaded for death after being fatally wounded in the 1996 Las Vegas shooting that took his life.

Speaking to People from prison, the Death Row Records co-founder recalled the harrowing night, saying: “I got out and tried to tell the officers what happened while I was bleeding everywhere. I then was getting Tupac out the car… I had to go over there bleeding everywhere, take the seat belt off him.” Knight claims the rapper then turned to him and said, “Kill me. Shoot me.”

The revelation comes amid fresh developments in the decades-long investigation into 2Pac’s murder. The trial of Duane “Keefe D” Davis—the only person charged in the case—has been postponed until 2026 following the discovery of new witness testimony that could support his defense.

During a recent hearing, the judge acknowledged that additional time was needed to ensure Davis receives effective legal representation. Davis’ lawyers argue that new witnesses can prove he wasn’t present at the scene of the 1996 shooting and maintain that prior immunity should protect him from prosecution.

Keefe D remains in custody as the case continues to unfold.
