Ye goes after Addidas and Jerry Lorenzo
Kanye West erupted into a fiery post on Instagram on Tuesday (January 7) to spark accusations at Adidas, badmouth his Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo, and throw thick slurs on all those he says are “fake friends.”
“I did phenomenal work for you guys and because I stood up for myself y’all tried to intimidate and oppress me. When you Google Yeezy.com, the Adidas site comes before the Yeezy site: Our partnership is done,” Kanye wrote. The former Yeezy partner criticizes the $60 billion company for undermining him even after their ugly breakup in 2022, following his comments made in antisemitic remarks about the US.
He also targeted Jerry Lorenzo, whom he called “corny and disloyal” for still working with Adidas, accused Lorenzo’s show of plagiarizing his Hollywood Bowl performance and promised never to “be the bigger man” in that instance again.
“Yeezy over everything” was the ringing declaration of Kanye, accusing others of using him to sell their fake Yeezy lines, yet never truly supporting him.
Kanye bragged about his brand’s success by revealing that Yeezy.com made $100 million in just six months, selling more than one million pairs of items. “People wanted to make me believe I couldn’t do this on my own,” he wrote. “It’s Yeezy for the people.”
This post illustrates Kanye’s continuing struggle to redefine his legacy and assert ownership over the Yeezy empire.
