Sukihana is drawing backlash after urging fellow rapper Saweetie to “come out of the closet” as an alleged escort so she can gain more respect in hip-hop, during a recent appearance on Justin Laboy’s Respectfully podcast, a clip of which is now circulating across social media and being highlighted by outlets like TMZ Hip Hop and Hot 97.[3][2] The Miami rapper and reality TV personality framed her comments as a call for “authenticity,” arguing that fans would embrace Saweetie more if she openly acknowledged doing sex work.[1][3]

In the viral podcast segment, Sukihana claimed “all these h*es sell p***y… especially these rap b****es like Saweetie,” before directly addressing the “My Type” rapper.[1][4] “Saweetie, people would really f*** with you more if you just live your truth,” she said, adding, “If you selling ass, then you selling ass… whatever you’re doing, you just need to say what you doing.”[1][2] According to TMZ, Sukihana went as far as urging Saweetie to admit to being an “elegant lady of the night” so that audiences would respect her more in rap.[3] She insisted she was not telling Saweetie to quit music, clarifying that she thinks the Bay Area star should “just live in your truth, whatever you do.”[1][2]

Sukihana also used the conversation to discuss her own past, stating that she no longer sells sex now that she has left the hood, but contending that women who explicitly ask for money and women who date wealthy men for luxury are “all birds of the same feather.”[2][3] Her stance, repeated across multiple platforms, is that honesty about transactional relationships is what earns respect, especially from “ghetto girls” who allegedly don’t find Saweetie convincing or relatable in her current image.[4] The comments arrive on the heels of separate accusations from Saweetie’s former associate Maybach May, who has claimed the “Best Friend” rapper is an escort and uses men, including soccer star Jadon Sancho, to fund her lifestyle.[1][5]

Saweetie has already publicly denied Maybach May’s escort allegations, calling them “false, defamatory, and deeply disturbing” in an Instagram Story statement and asserting that the woman “never managed” her, reportedly vowing to let her lawyers handle the situation.[1][5] As of this writing, Saweetie has not directly responded to Sukihana’s latest remarks.[1][3] The episode has intensified ongoing debates around misogyny, respectability politics, sex work stigma, and authenticity in women’s rap, with many fans and commentators questioning whether calling for “truth” about alleged sex work is empowerment—or simply another way of policing Black women’s images in hip-hop.[4]
