B.G. supervised release to affect his creative expression

B.G. was released last year after serving over a decade in prison but under conditions, including having his lyrics checked before releasing music. Earlier this year, he was arrested for performing with Boosie and dropping joint mixtape with Gucci Mane without permission.

His legal team has since been fighting to have some of the conditions lifted, including having to submit his lyrics to probation officer. According to Allhiphop, in the last week of June, the court ruled in favor of a modified requirement but did not turn it down. This means that B.G. will still have to issue a copy of his lyrics to his probation officer who may or may not recommend changes before drops the music.

“At that time, the Government may, if it deems necessary and appropriate, file another motion for leave to file a rule to show cause why the Defendant’s conditions of supervised release should not be modified because the Defendant’s conduct is inconsistent with the goals of rehabilitation,” the judge said.
