Lil Wayne bags 22 platinum plaques
Lil Wayne’s iconic discography is still receiving consistent spins among his fans, enabling him to continue stacking plaques more than two decades after he began his career.
On Weezy’s 40th birthday (September 27), it was reported that the New Orleans rapper received 22 platinum plaques from RIAA. His biggest album Tha Carter III has been certified 8x platinum, and is only 2 million units away from diamond status – 10 million units. I Am Not A Human Being and Tha Carter V has also scored the 2x platinum certification.
Other records to be granted certifications include “How To Love,” “Right Above It” with Drake, “She Will” with Drake, and “Mirror” with Bruno Mars which are now 6x platinum, 5x platinum, and the last two 4x platinum respectively.
The singles “A Milli,” “Love Me,” with Drake & Future, and “Drop The World,” featuring Eminem have also been certified 6x platinum, 7x platinum, and 5x platinum respectively.
