Lil Yachty shows love to the city of Detroit with new tape
Lil Yachty releases his new mixtape Michigan Boy Boat. The 14-track tape highlights the Atlanta native’s love for Detroit city and the Michigan state in general. With features from the likes of Tee Grizzly, Swae Lee, Veeze, Sada Baby, and others, Yachty has been teasing the project since October.

“Man folks always ask me, ‘What’s your thing with them, you know, Detroit dawgs? You know, why you doing all this?’” he said in a trailer for the project. “I found a love for Michigan. The city [Detroit] itself is just a vibe that’s unmatched. I established this relationship… This fam with all these guys all throughout Michigan, not just Detroit. Trynna put them on a pedestal, give them a platform they may have not had before.”
In an interview with Complex, the Lil Boat 3 artist revealed that he first started building connections with the Michigan hip-hop scene in 2016 through Skywalkin. That’s the reason he included Michigan underground artists and producers in the making of the mixtape.
