What does it mean to be putting up a “Front” or to be “Frontin’”?
The slang terms “Front”and “Frontin’”(also spelled Fronting) are nouns which were coined and popularized by Pharrell in 2003 when he released his hit single Frontin’ featuring Jay-Z.
A Front is an inauthentic act, typically to impress others.
Fronting or Frontin’ means acting like you’re better than you really are or to put up a false facade.
The terms “Front'” and “Frontin’” has been used by Kendrick Lamar, Joe Trufant, J. Cole, Drake, A$AP Rocky, and many more rappers.
