Akon confirms Akon City is still under development
Akon talked about the progress of Akon City in a recent interview and confirmed that the project is still under development. First announced in 2018, the eco-friendly, crypto-powered city in Senegal initially served comparison with Wakanda because of the timing of Black Panther’s film release. He now admitted that he may have overhyped the time it would take to build the project at the time it was first announced.
“My biggest thing was I promoted it way, way, way too early,” Akon explained during a sit-down with Allhiphop’s Chuck Creekmur. “Of course, anything that exciting that would change a culture, people will naturally want to know what’s happening right now, assuming that it’s already happening. But it was in a process of creating.”
