Ja says he didn’t copy 50, instead 50 copied him

Ja Rule claps back at Melle Mel’s allegations that he tried to copy 50 Cent’s style, resulting in their prolonged feud throughout the 2000s. Speaking to TMZ, Ja said 50 is the one who jacked his style, and went on to compare his song “New York” to Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.”

“Me copying 50 is like the phoniest shit ever cause 50 copied me ever since ‘Bluueprint. My ‘New York’ record was huge, longest, one of the biggest New York records ever,” Ja explained. “Even the ‘Empire State of Mind’ is a huge record as well, but they’re different. Mine is a street anthem.”
