Kanye West, his label G.O.O.D Music can no longer release music under Def Jam

Published October 25, 2022 by

Kanye West and G.O.O.D Music have parted ways with Def Jam

Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D Music is not under Def Jam anymore. As reported by the New York Times this week, Def Jam will no longer distribute records released via G.O.O.D.

Ye himself fulfilled his contractual obligations with Def Jam in 2021 when he released Donda. Nevertheless, the label continued to distribute music released under G.O.O.D including Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry and 070 Shake’s You Can’t Kill Me.

It’s not clear if this new development is connected to Ye’s recent anti-Semitic comments that have cost him business deals with companies like Balenciaga and MRC.

“We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform,” a statement from MRC executives stated. “The silence from leaders and corporations when it comes to Kanye or antisemitism in general is dismaying but not surprising. What is new and sad, is the fear Jews have about speaking out in their own defense.”
