Lil Baby Denies Dissing Gunna on ‘Runnin’ This Shit’

Published January 27, 2025 by

Baby Clears the Air About Alleged Shots at His Former Collaborator

Lil Baby has denied taking a shot at Gunna on his latest track, “Runnin’ This Shit,” from his WHAM deluxe album. Speaking to Complex, the rapper clarified that specific lyrics weren’t aimed at Gunna despite fans speculating otherwise. When asked about his pointed lines, Baby explained: “That’s just how I rap. I hate that they try to make narratives out of shit I say. I say what I want to say. If I was speaking on certain people and shit, I would say that.”

The song features the line, “I don’t care what he did, he a rat still / And I said what I said, don’t at me,” which many fans took as a reference to Gunna, who faced snitching allegations after pleading out of the YSL RICO case in 2022.

Although the lyrics were widely interpreted as a diss, Baby maintained that they weren’t meant specifically for Gunna. Their strained relationship has been evident, with Baby previously calling Gunna a “rat” in 2023 and making it clear in interviews that they don’t have a relationship anymore.

Gunna’s attorney, however, has continued to assert that Gunna didn’t cooperate with prosecutors in the YSL case, claiming that his plea deal didn’t involve any damaging testimony against Young Thug.
