Missy Elliott recognizes Lil Wayne’s impact on hip-hop

Missy Elliott and Lil Wayne have never shied away from appreciating each other’s contribution to the hip-hop culture. On Monday (November 7), Elliott went on Twitter to shower Tunechi with praises for his role on shaping the modern rap.

“@LilTunechi You have Birthed a whole generation after you,” she wrote.
She also made it clear she wants to give Wayne his credits while he can still celebrate them. “Its easy for people to acknowledge Some1’s GREATNESS when their no longer around but I want you to know YOU ARE LEGENDARY no matter who thinks differently YOUR BLUEPRINT is PRESENT! No debate.”

The Virginia femcee had shared a brief clip of her celebrating with the New Orleans icon a few hours earlier.

Earlier in the year, Wayne named Elliott as one of his top 5 rappers dead or alive. “For me, it’s always going to be first, Missy Elliott. She’s a huge influence on everything I’ve ever done,” Wayne told Nick Wright during his What’’s Wright? With Nick Wright podcast in May. “Jay-Z is the best to ever speak, And Biggie, obviously. Then, as a whole, I have Goodie Mob. Then I have UGK.”
