Nicki’s ‘Starships’ hits diamond status
Nicki Minaj has achieved her third Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after her 2012 single, “Starships,” earned her its fitting.
On Monday (November 18), the up-tempo pop-rap anthem notable for its repetitive hook and bouncy production crossed the 10 million mark in sales in the country, ‘Starships’ was a resounding commercial success and reached the top 10 in several countries’ charts and embedded in Minaj’s collection of songs. It has pop, dance, and rap fusion which goes to the fact that Minaj is loved by many and cements her in both the worlds of hip-hop and pop music.
