Tyler, The Creator Slams Podcast Culture and Calls for Its Ban

Published June 30, 2025 by

The rapper criticizes the rise of “loud and incorrect” voices, calling the medium “gross”

Tyler, The Creator is once again making waves with his outspoken views—this time targeting podcast culture. In a recent interview with The Cut, the Grammy-winning artist doubled down on his longstanding disdain for the popular audio format, saying, “I think we give a lot of people who aren’t smart and just want attention platforms to be loud and incorrect, and other stupid people follow them.”

The Odd Future founder criticized the growing number of people using podcasts to gain influence without offering value. “Everybody with a mic is crazy. I just think that shit is gross,” he added, calling instead for society to uplift skilled professionals like electricians, painters, and teachers.

While Tyler did acknowledge enjoying a select few podcasts—specifically naming Deante Kyle and The Cutting Room Floor—he made it clear that most do not meet his standards.

His disdain isn’t new. Last year, he joked that if he were president, his first move would be to “take podcast mics away from n-ggas.”

Tyler also took issue with white rappers parodying hip-hop, referencing an unnamed artist believed to be Ian. “This is like weird… it don’t even sit well with me,” he said.
