Young Thug’s legal defense files motion to stop his lyrics from being used in trial

Young Thug, Gunna, YSL RICO trial to kick off next year

As Young Thug awaits trial in the RICO case that involves his YSL crew members including Gunna, his lawyers have filed a motion to block the rapper’s lyrics from being used in trial.

“The admission and use of these lyrics/poetry/artistry against [Young Thug] in his upcoming trial would be a Constitutional violation and an abuse of discretion, too prejudicial and unconstitutional,” the motion obtained by Allhiphop reads. “Moreover, using these lyrics/poetry/artistry/speech against [Young Thug] is racist and discriminatory because the jury will be so poisoned and prejudiced by these lyrics/poetry/artistry/speech.”

Young Thug, Gunna, and other YSL members were named in a 56-count indictment in May. Both Thug and Gunna have been denied bond several times. The trial is slated to start on January 9 and could reportedly take six months.
