2 Chainz rapper recalls strict rules while working with Slim Shady

2 Chainz recently revealed an unexpected hurdle he faced while recording with Eminem: a strict no-weed policy in the studio — enforced not by Eminem himself, but by his team.

Speaking on Club Shay Shay, the “No Lie” rapper shared details about the sessions for songs like “Chloraseptic” and “Kyrie & Luka.” Despite Eminem’s laid-back attitude, his crew maintained a tight environment. “I couldn’t smoke in there,” 2 Chainz said. “It was kinda funny. His people were real concerned. They even put the speakers outside so I could hear the beat.”

Recalling a day in Malibu, Chainz said he was smoking while writing his verse outside. Upon returning to the booth, he spotted Eminem ready to step in — only to be blocked by his own team. “They were like, ‘Don’t go in there, he’s smoking,’” Chainz recalled. “Em looked like, ‘Sit the f*** down, what do you think I’m about to do?’ He wasn’t tripping at all.”

The two artists linked up in 2023 on “Kyrie & Luka,” produced by DJ Premier. The track pays homage to NBA stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, blending their names with a beat influenced by Eric B. & Rakim’s classic “Move the Crowd.”

Rocky reminds Titty Boy how he went off on “F**kin’ Problems”

ASAP Rocky sat down with 2 Chainz for an interview last Thursday (December 8) on the latest episode of his Amazon Music Concert series, where he recalled how Titty Boy “killed the hook” on his breakthrough hit, “F**kin’ Problems.”

“People wait for whatever you do or whatever you got your name attached to, bruh,” 2 Chainz sparked the conversation before Rocky chimed in, “Think back when ten years ago we made my first single, my first hit song. You know, you killed the hook. You went crazy all over that.”

In another part of the discussion, Big Toni brought up their passion for terrific music videos, but Flacko still reminded him of their 2012 smash.

“We’re talking about our love for videos and visuals. As a whole, we honor your taste,” 2 Chainz told Rocky, who replied, “That’s mutual too. Just so you know. My biggest song to date was with you and now we here talking about music videos 10, 11 years later.”

2 Chainz continued, “Yeah it’s a blessing that we’re still going places and change the climate,” Rocky added, “Still inspire. I aspire to keep inspiring man, within the climate of hip-hop and the nature of it and our culture. I’m a catalyst for it. You know we got to compassionate translate what we see.”

Lil Wayne talks his work ethic with 2 Chainz

Lil Wayne had a brief discussion with 2 Chainz before he rocked the stage on Amazon Music Live this weekend. During the talk, Titi Boy reminded Wayne of a moment during I’m Music Tour when he (2 Chainz) “went to sleep” and left him in the tour bus recording. When he woke up, Weezy was still “on the bus recording.”

2 Chainz then asked him where he got that work ethic from, and Wayne simply explained that it “naturally comes from my mum.”

“I was invited to come on tour with Wayne around, I wanna say 08’ or something like that, I’m Music Tour,” 2 Chainz began. “One night you went to the studio in the bus and I went to sleep. But when I when I woke up, you still was on the bus recording. Where did that come from, man?”

Wayne quickly responded, “The drive naturally comes from my mum. The way she worked you would think I got five brothers and six sisters. She was out there bursting her a** out for me.”

He added, “She loved what she was doing so she never worked a day in her life. That’s where I got it from man. Embrace what you’re doing, love what you’re doing, it won’t seem like work at all and you won’t know how to stop.”

2 Chainz’s first rap name was Tity Boi

Before Tauheed Epps was known as 2 Chainz, he went by the name Tity Boi.

During a 2011 interview with Vibe, 2 Chainz revealed how he got the name Tity Boy saying; “The name Tity Boi actually came from my big mama, from me being spoiled and an only child—breastfed. My mama called me Tity Boi, my dad called me Tity Man, my hood called me Tit so when we was trying to rap I had been going by Tit my whole life, Tit, Tity, Tity Man —it’s just like a country nickname —term for being an only child.”

2 Chainz still goes by Tity Boy, he never changed it but 2 Chainz stuck “2 Chainz made it lady and kid friendly. In my 8th grade yearbook picture I had on 2 chains. I had always been into like jewelry so 2 Chainz just stuck” – 2 Chainz told Vibe.
