The G-Unit boss and We The Best mogul embrace and bury the hatchet after years of tension

50 Cent and DJ Khaled have officially put their long-standing feud to rest after they were seen embracing at a charity golf tournament hosted by MLB legend Reggie Jackson earlier this week. The event in Port St. Lucie, Florida, provided the perfect setting for the two music moguls to reconcile, with Khaled telling 50 Cent, “Nothing but love and respect.”

In a video recap of the event, which also saw Travis Scott in attendance, 50 Cent shared footage of his and Khaled’s warm embrace. 50, who sponsored the event through his Sire Spirits brand, seemed to be in high spirits as he and Khaled shared a moment of mutual respect before hitting the course.

The tension between the two dates back to at least 2005, when DJ Khaled refused to shake hands with G-Unit’s Tony Yayo due to their feud with Fat Joe, with whom Khaled was close. Yayo recalled the moment on Drink Champs in 2023, revealing that he was warned against visiting Khaled in Miami due to his ties with Joe. According to Yayo, Khaled initially pretended to shake his hand but then rejected him, yelling his signature tagline, “DJ Khaled,” and ordering him to “get the fuck outta here.”

DJ Khaled later confirmed the story during an appearance on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, explaining that his loyalty to Fat Joe made it difficult for him to embrace Yayo at the time. He admitted that, while he might have handled things differently today, he would have still stayed true to his brother Joe.

Despite their differences, 50 Cent’s antics continued over the years, including a 2009 incident where he seemingly filmed himself threatening Khaled’s mother. However, the charity event marks a turning point for the two, with both moguls moving past their old issues to show mutual respect and camaraderie.

“I was like, ‘I’ma just be honest with you, Khaled, I’m depressed right now. I got a lot going on: lawsuits, people threatening me back in my hometown, all types of stuff.’

“He was like, ‘Nah, man, just put it in the music.’ Every time I listen to [‘Ima Be Alright’] I cringe so hard because I’m like, ‘Man, this is not who I am.’ He eventually ended up bringing me ‘Wild Thoughts.’”

He continued, “He didn’t really care […] ‘Put it in music’ is not always the best thing. Don’t get me wrong, it works. I hate when I’m going through some shit and then I gotta go be [regular].”

The dancehall artist shared a clip of him with his accomplices breaking into pieces plaques he earned for his contribution to Khaled’s albums, Father Of Asahd and Grateful, claiming that the Florida producer disrespected him. Jay Z delivered his “God Did” verse in one take, according to engineer Young Guru

Jay Z is still performing miracles in the studio

At 52, Jay Z delivered a sublime near 4-minute verse on DJ Khaled’s album title song, “God Did.” According to Hov’s long-time engineer Young Guru, the New York legend laid down the verse in just one take.

“People think I’m still not amazed when he walk in and do these verses,” Guru said in a discussion with Genius’ Rob Markman and GQ’s Frazier Tharpe. “And this one was different because normally, we’ll sit down, we’ll do a song, three verses, two verses or whatever, and he’ll have a verse and then we’ll figure out what’s next.

“No, he walked in and this was completely, he’s spitting the verse to me. One take. He’s literally asking me, ‘Guru, put the beat on.’ I’m like, ‘Khaled didn’t send me the beat, you didn’t send me the beat. Send me the beat.’ So then he sends me the joint and I started trying to loop it, and he was just like, ‘No, no, no, hit Khaled and get the whole instrumental,’ so he could spit the whole verse.”

He added, “I didn’t know he had almost four minutes and how many bars or whatever ready, so I’m just in amazement of watching him do this again at 52 years old. It’s like, I never stop being amazed. That’s why I tweeted ’cause it’s just like, ‘Yo, I don’t really wanna have a conversation after this.’”
