Shannon Sharpe Issues Heartfelt Apology to Nicki Minaj After Diss on “Banned from NO”

Former NFL star clarifies comments and extends open invitation to rapper after misunderstanding

Shannon Sharpe has issued a sincere apology to Nicki Minaj following a lyrical jab she directed at him on her new track with Lil Wayne, “Banned from NO.” On the song, Minaj rapped:

“‘Bout to cop you slides, all you do is flip-flop / If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe.”

The diss appeared to reference a past incident where Sharpe responded “Nicki who?” after a fan suggested she appear on his Club Shay Shay podcast — a moment Minaj seemingly didn’t forget.

On a recent episode of his Nightcap show, Sharpe addressed the line and clarified that his comment had been misinterpreted. “I was talking about Nikki Haley, not Nicki Minaj,” he said. “Nicki, I was not trying to be disrespectful. Of course I know who you are.”

Sharpe added a personal touch to the apology: “Even if you just want to have a private conversation on the phone, it won’t go any further between you and I.”

He concluded: “Intent only matters to me. Clearly you’re still offended, so I apologize sincerely and hope we can move forward.”

Minaj also used the track to call out JAY-Z and the NFL for overlooking Lil Wayne for the Super Bowl halftime show, spitting:

“NFL, fire some n-ggas and then call us.”

Neither Minaj nor Wayne have responded publicly to Sharpe’s apology as of yet.

Nicki echoes explosive claims by CEO’s daughter in ongoing controversy

Nicki Minaj has ignited fresh controversy after sharing a viral interview with Demoree Hadley, the estranged daughter of Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, in which Hadley accuses the entertainment powerhouse of targeting Minaj and abusing its influence.

Hadley, who is currently suing her mother, alleged in the interview that Roc Nation “attacked” Minaj’s family, husband, and child, and that the label is guilty of silencing and smearing outspoken artists. “If it’s happening to me, it’s happening to her,” Hadley said. “Nobody is safe right now.”

Minaj amplified the claims by reposting the interview and addressing critics directly on X: “NEVER call me a liar… Every single angel ever created fights for me at the mere MENTION of that word… No one who conspired on the wrong side will go unpunished.”

The “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper has long voiced frustration with Roc Nation, alleging a sustained effort to damage her career and divide her fanbase. Roc Nation has yet to comment publicly on the accusations, while Perez has responded to her daughter’s lawsuit with a countersuit of her own.

The public fallout continues to unfold amid growing scrutiny of the label’s internal dynamics.

Nicki Minaj Avoids Charges in Alleged Assault Case – For Now

Nicki will not be prosecuted for allegedly battering her ex-tour manager

Nicki Minaj will not be prosecuted for reportedly battering Brandon Garrett, her ex-tour manager, during an incident last April when the rapper was in Detroit for the Pink Friday 2 Tour.

As reported by TMZ on Monday (January 6), a warrant that was requested by Detroit police was denied because of a lack of evidence. Nonetheless, the Prosecutor’s Office called for further investigation leaving the window for possible charges open in case new evidence surfaces.

Garrett’s lawsuit states the rapper assaulted him while he was in her dressing room after she got to know that he had appointed someone else to get her medications. He has claimed that she slapped him on an open palm and smacked his wrist causing him to release some documents, followed by heated verbal abuse, claiming he had to seek refuge for safety reasons.

Nicki’s lawyers denied the allegations. “If the lawsuit is as zealous by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous,” her attorney Judd Burstein stated and went on to express confidence in her winning the case.

Mr. Garrett said he locked himself in a bathroom for hours following the altercation and was also terminated, and now he is bringing suit for assault, battery, and emotional distress, asking for damage in an unspecified amount.

The investigation continues and, depending on newly introduced evidence, the course of the case may change.

Nicki Minaj Refused to Sign with Gucci Mane in the Late 2000s, Citing Concerns Over His Impact on Her Career

Nicki Minaj turned down Gucci Mane’s offer to sign in the late 2000s, citing concerns about his influence on her career

Nicki Minaj never made the signing with Gucci Mane in the late 2000s because she was quoted by her former manager, Debra Antney, as saying he would “destroy her”.

Antney, who also happens to be the mother of Waka Flocka Flame, managed a host of Atlanta artists including Gucci and OJ Da Juiceman, just before getting into business with Minaj towards the end of 2008. It was almost two years since at-that-time-revered rapper Lil Wayne discovered Minaj but had not given her a deal, so she decided to move to Atlanta to be near Antney and work on that signing.

Her period in Atlanta saw Minaj spend a lot of time with Gucci and his 1017 crew, which set off conversations about her joining his label. However, according to Antney, Minaj knew that wasn’t the right move.

In an interview on Ray Daniels’ The GAUDS Show on November 25, Antney explained, “That was one of the things she knew: Gucci was going to destroy her. That nigga was always in jail, always in beefs, always in some trouble. She wasn’t going to shine over there. I remember giving Baby that tape and saying, “You’re going to be a fool if you don’t sign this girl.”
