Saweetie Shuts Down 21 Savage Romance Rumors, Denies Beef With Latto

Saweetie has rejected the allegations about her being in a relationship with 21 Savage, insisting that there is no beef with Latto

The fans started speculating when the two rappers flew to Dubai at the same time and ignited the rumor of a secret romance between them. As per the rumors, a recent interview by Saweetie with Mystery Fashionist, where she referred to herself as “Big Mama,” was interpreted by certain fans as a jab toward Latto, who has been inconsistent association with 21 Savage for the past several years.

Adopting the space of one fan, who tagged this ugly drama as “messy,” made it sound like Saweetie was throwing shade. “Literally never met him. Go get some money & get off the internet. BROKEYYYYYY,” replied “Icy Girl” to the claims, borrowing a line from Latto’s latest track.

Saweetie has made it clear that she’s hard at work on her career and is free of any of those rumors swirling around her.

    Saweetie recalls her broke days

Saweetie is enjoying a fairly successful career now but that wasn’t always the case. During a recent interview on Power 106’s Brown Bag In The Morning, the rapper recounted not having a place of her own back in the day.

“I remember I was too proud to tell my friends and my family that I had nowhere to stay and I was literally couch surfing,” she recalled.

“But it was cool because people always wanted to be around, so I didn’t have to worry about having a place to stay, but my homegirls knew what was going on. But I never wanted to take up space in someone’s house, so I would just keep my closet in my car.”

She added, “Girl, talk about having no confidence. I would even feel bad about partying. I know I just made that comment, but it’s just like— imagine not having the money, couch surfing, and then sometimes being in the club or being at parties. I would always just go home early because I felt like I didn’t deserve to be there.”

Saweetie is taking her time to make sure she gives her fans a quality debut album. Recently speaking to Elite Daily, the 30-year-old rapper explained the kind of body of work she plans to deliver.

“There’s a misconception about how quickly an album can be done. It’s taken me a long, long time, but it’s not as easy as some people make it seem,” she said. “I don’t want it to be an album just full of hits. Yes, I want it to have hits, but I want the songs to correlate with one another.”

Saweetie found herself on the bad side of the internet late 2022 after her EP, The Single Life, performed dismally as far as first week sales are concerned. Clearly, she didn’t let the backlash get to her.

Cardi B recently appeared on Revolt’s newly-launched The Jason Lee Show where she had an extensive discussion. The New York rapper explained why she never publicly address the rumors about Offset and Saweetie, blatantly saying the allegations are false.

“I was quiet because one thing I’m gonna do, I’m gonna find out the truth,” Bardi said.

“And you know that I was finding out that truth,” she added. “So, it’s like, if I entertain something that I know is not true, on the internet, people be like, ‘Oh, it is true because you’re addressing it. But when I don’t address it, it’s true or not, as well.

“So, I’m like, you know what? I’m just not gonna entertain the bullsh*t, because if I entertain it, it’s gonna keep goin’ longer and longer.” Cardi continued, “At the end of the day, I know what’s going on in my house.”

Sonny Digital & Hitmaka offer their opinions on Saweetie’s reported extremely low first-week sales

Ever since DJ Akademiks shared the unconfirmed reports that Saweetie’s The Single Life mixtape has sold 2K units in the first week, many people have had something to say about the allegations. Producers Sonny Digital & Hitmaka also shared their thoughts about the sales.

In a tweet shared on Friday (November 25), Sonny Digital couldn’t get his mind around how Saweetie, with 13 million followers on Instagram, only managed to move such low numbers.

“13 million followers , hundreds of thousands likes on all pictures but album sold less than 2000 copies. That’s crazy. The math ain’t adding up,” Sonny wrote, before adding in another tweet, “If I had millions of followers and my album sold 2k I probably would just delete all my social media cause y’all lying to me.”

Hitmaka blamed Saweetie’s team for the said dismal performance of Saweetie’s project. He also criticized her and his estate for not sticking to the route that earned her previous success. “Saweetie selling 2k is bad A&R vibes,” he stated. “Someone’s supposed to tell u this ain’t it! I also have issues with her having multiple platinum singles & not sticking with same formula that got her here. Someone gotta get fired.”
