“We were in touch,” Ed recalled. “I sent him the song, and he said, ‘I don’t think the song needs a rap verse.’ He was probably right. He’s got a very, very good ear. He usually gets things right. It was a very natural, respectful pass.”
The hacker has been sentenced to 18 months in prison
A hacker named Adrian Kwiatkowski has been sent to 18 months in prison in the U.K. for stealing and selling Lil Uzi Vert and Ed Sheeran’s unreleased music for $147,000 in cryptocurrency, according to NBC News.
“Kwiatkowski had complete disregard for the musicians’ creativity and hard work producing original songs and the subsequent loss of earnings,” Joanne Jakymec, a prosecutor in London, stated. “He selfishly stole their music to make money for himself.”
Per a report released by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Kwiatkowski learned his fate on Friday (October 21).
Several music corporations filed complaints about Kwiatkowski, who went by Spirdark, and he was later identified by his real name in an investigation by Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in 2019. He was arrested the following year.
