Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist Announce ‘Alfredo 2’ Album — Sequel to 2020 Classic Is Official

Cover art revealed, no release date yet as anticipation builds for next chapter in acclaimed collaboration

Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist are officially reuniting for a new joint project — Alfredo 2, the long-awaited sequel to their Grammy-nominated 2020 album Alfredo. The pair unveiled the announcement with cover art that mirrors the original’s iconic imagery: a puppet master’s hands hovering over a plate of pasta.

While the release date is still under wraps, fans have been waiting for this news since as far back as 2021, when the duo began teasing a follow-up. At the time, Gibbs told NPR:
“Next [album] I want to go to Hawaii. We can record in Hawaii. I’m going to bring in like 20 strippers. I need it for my mindset.”

The announcement arrives amid rumors that another highly anticipated Gibbs project — his joint album with Madlib — had been lost in the devastating Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year. A Reddit post from a fan claimed Gibbs had said the album was destroyed. However, Gibbs quickly shut that down on social media with a simple post:
“This cap,” he wrote, denying the report.

While Madlib did indeed lose his family home and music archives in the wildfires, no confirmation has come that any collaborative work with Gibbs was lost. A fundraiser launched by Madlib’s manager, Stacy Epps, noted the producer lost “decades of music and equipment”, and asked fans for help as he rebuilds.

Despite the tragic setbacks in his musical orbit, Gibbs is pressing forward. With Alfredo 2 now on the horizon, fans can look forward to more gritty lyricism, cinematic beats, and razor-sharp chemistry from two of Hip Hop’s most respected names.

Stay tuned for a release date — this sequel promises to serve another gourmet-level plate of rap.

Ak faces backlash after inappropriate comments to 15-year-old boy during livestream

Meek Mill and Freddie Gibbs are among the latest celebrities to call out Akademiks (real name Livingston Allen) after disturbing footage surfaced of him making sexually suggestive comments to a 15-year-old boy during a Fortnite livestream over the weekend. In the video, Akademiks is seen speaking to the teen, identified as NourGXD, and making inappropriate remarks that made the boy visibly uncomfortable.

The footage quickly sparked outrage online, with Meek Mill warning parents to keep their children away from Akademiks’ platform. In a tweet, Meek referred to the media figure as someone “grooming children” and “spreading false info on black culture.” He also condemned Akademiks’ attempts to “ruin black families and black success.”

Freddie Gibbs, who has clashed with Akademiks in the past, called him a “bitch” in response to the incident.

Akademiks later apologized, calling his comments “regrettable” and claiming it was a “teachable moment” for him. However, his apology was met with further backlash, particularly from Nour, who stated that Akademiks only expressed remorse because he was caught. The teen described the incident as “unnecessary and disgusting,” reiterating the discomfort caused by Akademiks’ comments.

This incident adds to a troubling pattern of controversial remarks made by Akademiks, who faced similar backlash in 2017 for previous comments.

Benny The Butcher explains why he can’t reconcile with Freddie Gibbs

Benny ‘doesn’t have a problem’ with Freddie but can’t ‘stand next to him’

Benny The Butcher and Freddie Gibbs have been at each other’s necks for quite a while, and the former is not ready to burry the hatchet with the latter.

While addressing the feud on a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Benny explained that while he and Freddie do not have any issues on a personal level, he can’t extend an olive branch since that would contradict the content of his music.

“Hell no,” Benny responded after he was asked about the prospect of reconciling with Freddie. “You don’t do that shit to people you cool with and that’s just it. I really don’t have no problem with him. He never done nothing to me in life. I have no problem with him. It’s just that I would be goofy. And the people I make my music for would look at me goofy if I would stand next to him.”

The Machine says both Benny and Freddie are his friends

Conway The Machine doesn’t like how the situation ended up between his Griselda teammate Benny The Butcher and Freddie Giggs. Benny and Freddie were on each other’s necks in 2022 and went back and forth online. Conway was recently chopping it up with DJ Akademiks on Off The Record when the Benny and Freddie topic came up.

Conway made it clear that he was frustrated that two of his friends were at odds. “It’s a fucked up situation for me, personally, man,” Conway explained. “That n***a Gibbs my n***a, man. I wish that shit never happened. … I would love to squash that. I wish I could have. If I was there, I don’t know if that would’ve happened. I’m talking about none of it, not just the shit that they talking about. I’m talking about the shit that [came] before.

“I just wish that shit never happened, man. Gibbs, I just know how he do, man. He’s a funny dude on that internet shit and on Twitter and stuff,” he added. “He was wrong, I’ve spoke with people. But I don’t wanna say too much, man. Gibbs my n***a regardless. I don’t give a fuck. And Benny my cousin, I’m riding with Benny regardless of whatever happens. But if it was up to me, none of that shit would’ve never happened. None of it.”

Jeezy talks making peace with Freddie Gibbs, says their feud is his “biggest regret”

Jeezy is glad he’s now at good terms with Freddie Gibbs

Jeezy and Freddie Gibbs have at long last mended their relationship after a decade of being at each other’s left side. Gibbs first opened up by squashing the beef when he paid homage to Jeezy on his new album, $ouls $old $eparately, released last month. He later confirmed their reunion in an interview.

During a recent stop by Ebro in the Morning, Jeezy explained how important it was for him to sort their issues out with Gibbs.

“I knew he was going to be a star with or without me,” the Snowman said.

“I’m really intentional about making sure that I reconnect with a lot of people,” he added. “Not on no Kumbaya — but just like ‘I had love for you,’ and if it was my wrongdoing or me reacting to what you did to me… we had a miscommunication or somebody was talking through somebody else, and the word got to me. That happened before where people think you ain’t keeping your word, but you talking to somebody else, you got my line hit me directly.”

He continued, “It’s just like my biggest regret and still will be how I nourished my relationships in the beginning — because I had no idea that 10 years later, that would affect me.”

Freddie Gibbs and Jeezy have been beefing years

Freddie Gibbs recently ended beef with his former CTE label head Jeezy and now he follows up with an apology. On Wednesday (October 5), Gibbs left a message for the Snowman on Instagram thanking him for elevating his career while also apologizing for his role in their fall out.

“I love U bro,” he wrote under a series of photos of them together. “I apologize. But really U brought a different beast out of me and motivated me to get to this point so I gotta thank U at the same time. Love. @jeezy.”

This comes after Gibbs recently revealed on Bootleg Kev podcast that he settled his problems with Jeezy at an airport. “I seen Jeezy at the airport with his wife. I was with my girl. We shook hands and hugged and was just like, ‘Man, salute,’” the Indiana rapper said. “It was just, like, ‘Damn.’ It was a relief for both of us, I feel like.”

He continued, “We exchanged numbers and we both got on a plane and that was it. It was one of the most beautiful things ever, I think.”
