Joey Bada$$ Fires Fresh Shots at Kendrick Lamar on New Track

Brooklyn rapper escalates lyrical feud with bars aimed at the Compton icon

Joey Bada$$ has stirred the pot once again, directing fresh jabs at Kendrick Lamar in his latest release, “My Town.” Although the primary target appears to be Top Dawg Entertainment’s Rey Vaughn, the Brooklyn MC couldn’t resist sending a few pointed lines toward Lamar.

In the track, Joey proclaims, “I’m the real boogeyman, y’all n-ggas should be afraid / Get the general, I’m killing his troops,” suggesting a challenge to Kendrick’s leadership in the rap game. He follows up with a sharp wordplay: “Don’t make me Pulitzer, better be wise because / I’m dottin T’s and cross your eyes like Whitaker.”

This isn’t the first time Joey has looked west. On a recent diss titled The Finals, he acknowledged Kendrick directly: “I salute you Kenny but I know you well aware / You lookin’ for some competition? Then just know that I’ll be right here.”

The ongoing tension traces back to Joey’s The Ruler’s Back earlier this year, which took aim at West Coast rap as a whole. So far, Kendrick has yet to respond publicly, but fans are closely watching to see if the Compton lyricist will enter the fray.

Joey Bada$$ Calls Out J. Cole and West Coast Rappers in New Diss Tracks

Joey Seemingly Fires Shots at Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and More

Joey Bada$$ is making waves in the rap world with his recent diss tracks, and it seems like no one is safe. After dropping “The Ruler’s Back,” in which he subtly called out Kendrick Lamar and other West Coast rappers, the New York artist isn’t holding back. He followed up with a second diss track, “Sorry Not Sorry,” on January 20, turning his attention to J. Cole.

While Joey didn’t mention J. Cole by name, his lyrics made it crystal clear who he was addressing. “I’m bigging up my city, that’s something I had to do,” he spits. “Might delete later, I know damn sure that Joey won’t, f*ck it, I want all the smoke.” The line references Cole’s infamous decision to remove his Kendrick Lamar diss, “7 Minute Drill,” from streaming, which many saw as a sign of backing down.

Joey’s shots at Cole depart from the mutual respect they once shared. In the past, Joey Bada$$ cited J. Cole as one of his favorite rappers, and the two even collaborated in 2016. However, Joey appears determined to stake his claim as one of the top contenders in the rap game, and he’s not afraid to take shots at anyone in his way.

Joey Bada$$ and DeeKnows Fight in NYC Store Before Christmas

The altercation between the former Pro Era members leaves fans concerned about their relationship

Joey Bada$$ and former Pro Era member DeeKnows were involved in a physical altercation in an NYC store just before Christmas, leaving many fans shocked and disappointed. The fight, captured by the store’s security cameras, shows the two men engaged in a heated conversation that eventually escalates into blows both inside and outside the store.

The reason behind the confrontation remains unclear, though fans speculated that it could be related to the anniversary of the death of Pro Era member Capital STEEZ. STEEZ, who passed away on December 23, 2012, after reportedly jumping from the roof of the Cinematic Music Group headquarters, was a close friend and collaborator to Joey. The speculation about the timing of the fight adds an emotional layer to the incident, especially as Pro Era fans and family members continue to mourn the loss of STEEZ.

STEEZ’s passing has been a source of controversy within the Pro Era community, with his family publicly criticizing events such as STEEZ DAY, the annual tribute event. Joey Bada$$ addressed the ongoing tensions with STEEZ’s family in his 2022 song “Survivors Guilt,” where he rapped about the emotional struggles and misunderstandings between him and the late rapper’s family.

The fight between Joey and DeeKnows has left many wondering about the future of Pro Era and whether the personal issues between its members will affect their legacy.
