Drake’s “Scorpion” was the first album to reach one billion streams first week

Drake released his fifth studio album “Scorpion” on June 29, 2018. The same week the album became the first album to reach one billion streams in its first week of release. The album also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album charts.

Before the streaming record was broken by Drake’s Scorpion the record, the previous record with almost 700 million streams was set by Post Malone’s “beerbongs & Bentleys.” in May 2018.

Drake’s 25-track double album “Scorpion” sold some 731,000 units in the United States for the week. Scorpion’s lead single God’s Plan won Best Rap Song at the 2019 GRAMMY Awards.
