Gucci Mane is spotlighting The New 1017
Gucci Mane entered a partnership with Atlantic Records, forming The New 1017 to sign upcoming rappers. Some of the rappers signed to 1017 include Pooh Shiesty, Big Scarr, Foogiano, Roboy and So Icy Girlz, a duo consisting of K Shiday and Enchanting.
Back in June, Gucci Mane suggested that his relationship with Atlantic Records was hostile, calling the label ‘polite racists’. About a month later, Guwop tweeted an apology as he formed The New 1017. “I’m not going independent but so respect those who go that route I apologize for my rude harsh language lately I’m a do better #1017/Atlantic.”
Gucci released his project Gucci Mane Presents: So Icy Summer in July. The tape served as an introduction to the new 1017 signees. They were featured throughout the project.
The Trap legend recently announced in a tweet that the So Icy Gang mixtape will drop on this Friday. “We dropping our mixtape this Friday,” he wrote.
It’s always refreshing to listen to a project full of new sounds. The only way hiphop has managed to stay relevant for over four decades is by the breeding of new talents in every other generation.
