Gucci Mane once again puts an upcoming rapper on the map, after he signs a new rapper, BigWalkDog from Mississippi, to his New 1017 label. The trap music legend announced the new deal on Instagram, Sunday (May 23).

“I just signed the hardest young nigga in Mississippi all my supporters welcome him and follow now @bigwalkdog1 #New1017,” Gucci wrote in the caption of a video of him welcoming the new artist with a “1017” iced-out chain.

Earlier in the month, Gucci had announced on Twitter that he’s looking for an upcoming rapper to sign. “Who the hardest unsigned out right now I’m trying to give them a deal and a million Today!!!!!! #1017Worldwide,” he tweeted.

The New 1017 label is holding some of the hottest rappers right now. Pooh Shiesty has been making some serious waves with his debut mixtape, Shiesty Season, which has since gone gold. Big Scarr has also been on a mission and dropped his tape, Big Grim Reaper, in April.

As the label experiences continued success, it is also facing setbacks as rapper Foogiano is currently serving a 5-year prison bid, after he was sentenced earlier in the month for probation violation, after was accused of cutting his ankle monitor and getting out of the state without permission.
