DaBaby, born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, was born in the winter of 1991 in Cleveland, OH. He came to fame with his top ten hit song “Suge” in 2019. He has become a heavily featured remix rapper and pop-crossover superstar, working with Dua Lipa and others. His label Billion Dollar Baby was started in Charlotte, NC in 2017.
His past became the subject of Dave Chapelle’s comedy on the Netflix special “The Closer.” Like Dave, Da Baby got a major dose of cancel culture after his outburst at Rolling Loud Miami in 2021, as well as previous incidents including hitting a female fan and a misdemeanor gun charge related to killing someone at a Huntersville Walmart where Da Baby was shopping with his family in November of 2018.
His name was in the news again for problems he was having with the fellow artist and mother to his child, Dani Leigh after he tried to have the police put her out and then brought it up on an Instagram live. Even with obvious setbacks, his fame has continued to rise and he’s made appearances on Kanye West‘s Donda as well as other high-profile projects.
