Kid Cudi used to rap as Lil Scott. Kid Cudi originally went by the moniker Lil Scott.
Before Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi was famously known as Kid Cudi, his first rap name was Lil Scott.
“My first rap name when I first started when I was, like, 15 was Lil Scott. I just was a big fan of Lil Wayne at the time and we were, like, close in age so I was like, ‘Oh, this is a young dude doing his thing, that’s pretty cool.’ So it started off with Lil Scott.” Kid Cudi revealed this during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Kid Cudi would then change his name to Kid Mesc, then Kid Mescudi.
“I thought, you know, using my last name in some way would be cool so it ended up being Kid Mesc, the first half of my last name, right?” he said. “But people kept confusing it and thinking I was saying, like, Kid Mess. So that would really make me upset.”
Before the release of his popular mixtape A Kid Named Cudi on July 17, 2008, he would change his name again to Kid Cudi and go mainstream. He would then go on to release his cult-classic debut album, Man On The Moon: The End Of Day, the next year, on September 15, 2009.
