Co-star Bokeem Woodbine recalls Tupac’s attempt to impress the future Charlie’s Angels star
2Pac reportedly tried to hit on Lucy Liu while filming Gridlock’d, according to co-star Bokeem Woodbine. Speaking to The Art of Dialogue, Woodbine shared a funny story about Tupac’s attempts to charm the future Charlie’s Angels actress.
Woodbine said:
“I just remember one day on set, ‘Pac coming to the knock on my trailer. And he was like, ‘Yo, man, what are you doing?’ I was like, ‘I’m just chilling.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, man. I just came back from Lucy’s room and I’m trying to spit game.’”
Pac apparently told Woodbine that Liu wanted to teach him martial arts. He said:
“He was like, ‘Okay, well, maybe if I feign some interest and act like I’m interested in what she’s trying to talk to me about, it’ll get me closer to sealing the deal.’”
Woodbine laughed and asked how it went:
“So, I’m just cracking up. And I said, ‘How’d it work? Did it work?’ He’s like, ‘No, it didn’t work.’ I said, ‘Ah, don’t worry about it, man. You know, you can’t win them all.’”
He added that 2Pac felt Liu wasn’t really interested in him, since all she wanted to do was “wave these sticks around” — referring to martial arts practice.
Separately, Suge Knight once revealed that 2Pac was infatuated with Aaliyah and wanted to collaborate on an album with her. Knight said:
“[He said], ‘I wanna do an album with Aaliyah.’ Pac was so excited. I ain’t never seen that little muthafucka so happy… He thought she was the biggest star and had the best voice ever.”
Unfortunately, the two icons never got the chance to work together before 2Pac’s untimely death in 1996.
