Before Dwayne Michael Carter Jr was known as Lil Wayne, Weezy, or Tunechi, he was known as Shrimp Daddy (1992-94).
During a 2011 interview with Nardwuar: The Human Serviette, Lil Wayne revealed that he didn’t always go by his famed moniker ‘Lil Wayne’. Weezy confirmed his first rap name was ‘Shrimp Daddy’ after being inspired by former Cash Money artist Pimp Daddy.
“Shrimp Daddy. And I named myself because I was short, so I took the shrimp and I wanted to be like this guy right here, Pimp Daddy.” – Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne was then known as Baby D, the D from his name Dwayne. There are currently no Shrimp Daddy archives on the internet.
