Pete Rock claims he produced Nas‘ 1994 “The World Is Yours” beat in under 10 minutes.

During a 2014 profile for Illmatic with HipHopDX, Pete Rock, revealed he produced the beat in approximately 10 minutes saying: “It’s a faster pace with the creation of the music now. That’s not to say it wasn’t fast then, because in my time I was making beats in five minutes. I made “The World Is Yours” in less than 10 minutes…so, yeah.”

Nas’ “The World Is Yours” was the fourth single from Illmatic and inspired by Scarface. The song peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot Rap.
