East Coast rapper Grand Puba was born Maxwell Dixon in 1966. The New Rochelle, NY native has been active since 1989 and is one of the original members of Brand Nubian. In addition to working with the group, Puba has released several solo albums.
His style has always been Afrocentric and positive in nature. He left the group due to some disagreements but returned a few years later for the album Foundation. He’s worked with Missy Elliot, Cormega, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Red Alert, and Parrish Smith of EPMD.
