Tyler is proud of artists who are progressing slowly but surely

Tyler, The Creator wants to see upcoming artists gaining recognition through their work and not letting sudden attention and “big numbers” distract them form their craft. During a recent interview on the Interval Presents, Tyler praised rising St. Louis rapper Jordan Ward and his song “White Crocs” while in the process of sharing his wise words with all aspiring artists.

“There is this kid Jordan Ward. He has a song called ‘White Crocs’ that I really like,” Tyler said. “I saw the video when it was at 29,000 views, and now it’s like at 300,000 views and I’m so proud of that. And the song is good. I’m like bro, I don’t see this dude on no fucking Hype Beast or Akademiks, or other these things. And he is finding success within what he put out.”

He added, “and I hope he is not on label cause like ‘we need something to go viral, we need bigger numbers.’ I hope he sees the success that is happening.

“All the people that’s making music, don’t let these numbers fuck with their creativity.”
