Latto is the first hip-hop artist to top the Hot 100 this year
Latto becomes the first rapper to earn a No. 1 hit in 2023, thanks to her appearance on Jung Kook’s “Seven,” which debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week. This is also Latto’s first chart-topping hit in her career.
Latto later took to social media to react to the achievement. “Oop am I a bora girl now? Forever grateful!! Thanks JK for trusting me! Armypots up +10000,” Latto wrote on Instagram stories.
It’s not common for rappers to starve of No. 1 hits this long in the year. Seven months into 2022, three rappers: Jack Harlow, Future and Drake had already scored No. 1 hits as solo artists with the songs: “First Class,” “Wait For U” and “Jimmy Cooks” respectively.
