Kim defends her wording after fans mock her request for a natural disaster
Lil Kim raised some eyebrows this week when she wished for a monsoon to hit Los Angeles in an attempt to put out the city’s raging wildfires. The Junior M.A.F.I.A. legend had initially expressed her sympathies for those affected by the fires, writing, “Been sending strong prayers up for L.A. and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking.” However, her follow-up comment, “I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon on LA,” quickly sparked confusion.
Though she meant well, Kim’s phrasing unintentionally implied that another natural disaster was needed, leading to a flurry of online reactions. Fans were quick to mock her, with one person writing, “Ending one natural disaster with another one is crazy,” while another joked, “Immediate hall of fame tweet.” Others, including some fans of fellow New Yorker Fivio Foreign, even poked fun at the situation, claiming, “Tweet like Fivio challenge.”
In response, Kim fired back with a screenshot of the definition of a monsoon, clarifying, “For anyone that’s confused. Any questions?” Despite the mix-up, some followers were understanding, with one commenting, “I get what she was trying to say but this is wild.”
On a positive note, Lil Kim has recently signed a new deal for worldwide touring engagements, signaling exciting plans ahead for the rap icon.
