R&B star to remain in custody ahead of June 13 court appearance
Chris Brown has been denied bail in the United Kingdom following his arrest in connection with an alleged nightclub assault dating back two years. The R&B singer was taken into custody last week and formally charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Brown appeared before a UK court on Friday, May 16, where prosecutors described the alleged incident as “extremely serious” and confirmed it had been captured on CCTV. While the defense requested bail, the judge ultimately ruled in favor of the prosecution’s objections, ordering Brown to remain in custody until his next hearing on June 13.
During the brief court session, Brown confirmed his name and current UK address at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester, where he was arrested.
The 35-year-old artist is currently in the UK for his “Breezy Bowl” tour, which is set to kick off on June 15—just two days after his scheduled court date. It remains unclear whether the legal proceedings will affect the tour, and no official statement has been made regarding potential postponements.
As of now, Brown has not publicly addressed his arrest or the charges filed against him.
