A$AP Rocky was awarded the significant Cultural Innovator Award at the 2024 Fashion Awards, which recognized the influence he had over fashion and culture in the previous year.
The award is for those insiders in the entertainment industry known to have presented groundbreaking fashion moments that are globally relevant. The official description, however, reserves this honor for those innovators whose style and creativity affect the fashion world and much more.
The Harlem-born rapper received the award during a ceremony in the UK on December 2, dressed in a sharp Bottega Veneta navy suit. Partner Rihanna proudly filmed the same moment from the audience.
“This is insane right here. It’s crazy!” he said as he received the award. “It is about darn time, you know what I’m saying? Just being real, though, I was really honored. To me, being a cultural innovator means a lot, especially as a rapper involved in the fashion side of things. I think the lines between the two are definitely blurred now.”
He concluded his speech with morale boosters for the young designers whom he said had lost out on awards: “To all those young designers nominated here tonight, whether you got an award or not, I hope this inspires you to keep it up. You can do it too.”
