Travis Scott ‘Days Before Rodeo’ 10 Year Anniversary Show Recap

In case you missed it, Houston rapper Travis Scott released his second mixtape, Days Before Rodeo, on streaming services last night to celebrate the mixtape’s 10 year anniversary. To accompany the drop, a one-night-only “Spotify x Cactus Jack Present Days Before Rodeo” show took place at Atlanta’s Heaven at The Masquerade leading up to the midnight release.

For those of you that were unable to attend, DailyRapFacts was on the scene and created a video recap of the special anniversary show below:

It was only right the anniverary show would take place in Atlanta, considering Atlanta was where most of the tape was created with collaborators Metro Boomin, Young Thug, Migos, Southside, and more. Travis also performed some of the tracks from the mixtape at a concert with Young Thug at the very same venue around 10 years prior.

Days Before Rodeo was released by Travis Scott free online on August 18th, 2014. Almost a year before his official studio album debut, Rodeo, arrived on Sept. 4, 2015.

The mixtape, featured guest appearances from Rich Homie Quan, Young Thug, the 1975, Big Sean, Migos, and Peewee Longway, and more. Production of the tape was handled by Scott himself, alongside Metro Boomin, Mike Dean, Southside, WondaGurl, Lex Luger and more.

Scott also took to social media with added details of digital deluxe edition of the mixtape that would exclusively include tracks that he recorded for the tape but did not end up appearing on it. The drop also rolled out new merch, offering fans unreleased bonus tracks that were meant for the tape with a purchase of a digital version of the album. The merch drop also includes box sets, hats, hoodies and vinyls.

Travis Scott to Release ‘Days Before Rodeo’ Mixtape on Streaming Services this Friday

Houston rapper Travis Scott announced he will be releasing his second mixtape, Days Before Rodeo, onto streaming services to celebrate it’s 10th anniversary on Aug 23, 2024.

Travis Scott first announced the release while appearing at Fanatics Fest in New York City. Scott also took to social media with added details of digital deluxe edition of the mixtape that would exclusively include tracks that he recorded for the tape but did not end up appearing on it.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Announce ‘Vultures’ Listening Experience in Salt Lake City Utah

Kanye ‘Ye’ West and Ty Dolla Sign (group name aka ¥$) have announced another “Vultures Listening Experience”, set to take place in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 9th, 2024.

The event/listening experience was announced by Ty and Kanye on Instagram.

Ty Dolla Sign and Ye both announced the Salt Lake City event with some sort of tease of a ‘2’ hinting the event would be for their second collab album ‘Vultures 2‘

The ‘Vultures Listening Experience’ will take place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz and the new Utah Hockey Club of the NHL. You can get tickets to the event here.

The listening experience will also come a short seven days after the second installment of the Vultures collaboration album between Kanye and Ty Dolla Sign, Vultures 2, dropped suddenly on streaming services around 4am EST in the early morning of August 4th. Vultures 2 would arrive with 16 tracks and included features from Future, Young Thug, Playboi Carti, Lil Durk, and more.

Deluxe Version of Vultures 2 has dropped exclusively on Yeezy.com

Since the album drop on August 4th there has been multiple updates to songs such as fixing mixing and quality issues and even changing the sequencing of the track list. Kanye West Drops Deluxe Version of Vultures 2 on Yeezy.com

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign aka ¥$ have released the deluxe version of their second collaboration album, Vultures 2 exclusively on Yeezy.com today.

Eminem Drops Second Single Ahead of New Album Dropping Friday

Famous Detroit battle rapper, Eminem dropped his second single ‘Tobey’ on July 2nd, with a music video on July 5th. The single is the second and last single dropped ahead of Eminem’s new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which is set to drop July 12th, 2024.

‘Tobey’ features fellow Detroit Rappers BabyTron and Big Sean. The song title pays homage to the American actor Tobey Maguire, who played Peter Parker in the early 2000s Spider-Man trilogy and later in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His character would go on to serve as the mentoring figure to two generations of other Spider-Men in the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, similar to Eminem’s relationship with Big Sean and BabyTron.

Fun theory: Both Big Sean and BabyTron were seen in the recent Lyrical Lemonade “Doomsday, Pt. 2” music video which many think preludes the feature list for Eminem’s new album. The video also featured Denzel Curry, Teezo Touchdown, JID, Swae Lee, Cordae. The video, which was directed by Cole Bennett, also has producer credits and directed the music video for ‘Tobey’.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) was announced back in April 2024, when a teaser trailer for the album broadcasted during the NFL Draft in Detroit. The trailer revealed the title of the new album alongside a release date , “Summer 2024.”

On May 28, 2024, Eminem posted a video to his Instagram of him on a FaceTime call with magician David Blaine. At the end of the video, Eminem announced the release of lead single from the album would drop on May 31st called “Houdini”. Eminem ended the video stating “for my last trick, I’m gonna make my career disappear,” hinting at The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) being his final studio album.

“Coup de grâce” is a French term for “finishing blow” or more literally, “stroke of grace”. It refers to the final deadly blow delivered to one’s victim, typically a merciful act. This may hint that this album, may be the possible end of Eminem’s music career, and or the end of his alter ego Slim Shady.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) is set to drop at Midnight ET Friday July 12th.

Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Announce ‘Vultures’ Listening Experience in Seoul South Korea

Kanye ‘Ye’ West and Ty Dolla $ign (group name aka ¥$) have announced another “Vultures Listening Experience”, that is set to take place in Seoul, South Korea on August 23rd, 2024.

The event/listening experience was announced by Ye’s long time collaborator and creative music director Aus Taylor via Instagram. Posts from Ty Dolla $ign, Yzy, and more would follow. (Ye does not currently have any active Social Media)

The August event will take place at Goyang Sports Complex in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. It will be Ye’s first ever stand alone concert in Korea and Ye’s first time there since a music festival in 2010.

In an article by Rolling Stone Korea it gave detail in what to expect for the event, “Ye’s first solo performance in Korea will be one of the most memorable music experiences of the year, further cementing his reputation as a global icon. This performance will provide fans with an unforgettable musical experience and will be an opportunity to once again see Ye’s innovative music and artistic vision. This performance, which will be engraved in the hearts of fans around the world, is preparing a stage so amazing that it will be shocking.”

The event announcement may come as a random surprise, but Ye has frequently expressed his excitement to visit Asian countries and connect with his fans there. In June, Ye gave fans a surprise special performance in a wrestling ring at ‘Wangmania’ in Tokyo, Japan. Not long after that, rumors of an upcoming live show in South Korea sparked when Aus Taylor was seen touring stadiums in the area. Ye also spent most of his time creating and recording his collab album ‘Kids See Ghosts‘ with longtime collaborator Kid Cudi in Japan.

This Korea event announcement should excite fans following delayed drop dates and little information about the second installment ,Vultures 2, from the ¥$ group. Vultures 1 released in February following multiple listening events across the United States. Even after the album dropped the events continued, which included Kanye and Ty among other collaborators dancing and listening to songs from Vultures 1, Classic Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign songs, and even teasing unreleased possible Vultures 2 songs.

Vultures 1 would go on to debut at number one on the US Billboard 200 after a five-day tracking period, selling 148,000 album-equivalent units in it’s first week. V1 also included a number 1 song for the ¥$ duo, “Carnival” which reached number-one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming West’s first chart-topper in 13 years. “Carnival” also became the first number-one song for Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti, as well as the second number-one for Ty Dolla $ign.

Will the South Korean Listening Experience in August include songs only from Vultures 2, or a combination like before? On Aus Taylor’s Instagram post someone commented “I can smell vultures 2” which was promptly liked by Aus himself.

Could this be the start of the Vultures 2 rollout? Time will tell.

Travis Scott Sells Mugshot T-shirts After Miami Arrest

Houston Rapper, Travis Scott was arrested last week in Miami early Thursday morning on June 20th, 2024 for allegedly trespassing and alleged disorderly intoxication.

The Miami Beach Police Department said there was a disturbance on a yacht in the Miami Beach Marina as Scott was seen “standing by the dock yelling at the vessel’s occupants.” Police repeatedly asked Scott to sit down, which he did only to allegedly stand back up. Police noted “a strong smell of alcohol” coming from Scott’s breath. After asking him to leave Scott did not comply and when asked by police if he had been drinking, Scott replied, “It’s Miami.”

Hours later, Travis posted a picture of his mugshot on his Instagram story, but had added sunglasses and earbuds on himself relating to the famous Lebron James photo. Travis also announced he was selling T-shirts with his mugshot (only he’s smiling in this one) with the slogan, “It’s Miami.”

Kendrick Lamar Opened for Drake on 2012 Club Paradise Tour

The Drake and Kendrick Lamar rap feud was the biggest in more than a decade for the rap community. The feud included more than 8 diss tracks exchanged between the two over the span of a month.

But at one point Drake and Kendrick were collaborators and even toured together. In 2011 Drake gave Kendrick Lamar an enormous recognition boost by featuring him on his wildly popular 2011 album, Take Care, which won Drake his first Grammy Award, winning Best Rap Album.

Following the success of Drake’s Take Care album, a tour of North America was planned. Joining him for opening acts on the tour included up and coming rappers Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky.

The tour’s name spun off from the 2011 song “Club Paradise“, a promotional single released ahead of the release of Take Care, which, in turn, borrowed its name from a strip club in Toronto.

The very popular and attended 2012 concerts would aid in breaking Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky into the rap game and to an audience that might not have known them otherwise. Due to the large demand and tickets selling out in minutes in multiple locations, extra tour dates were even added to the itinerary, which included a second leg across the United States.

The tour became a commercial success, grossing $42 million in the tour’s duration. It was the highest-grossing hip-hop tour of 2012, according to Pollstar‘s annual year end tour chart.

At the Finale of the North American Club Paradise show, Drake gave Kendrick and Rocky praise and doubled down on bringing them on tour with him.

“There are people like you who are well-versed in who those guys are, but there’s people that will get out there and be like, what the f*ck was this? And maybe three years from now they’ll be like, damn, I was there for that moment. … I don’t want to do some big arena tour like, let’s go me J. Cole and Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, cuz that’s what’s going to sell right now, those guys all have albums out. … And it’s really me giving Rocky and Kendrick a chance to say, I’m bringing you out, do with it what you will. You take it to the moon from here, congratulations, because we’ll be immortalized in this moment.“
