“Position of Power” Fires Shots Over Buffalo Incident and Rap Game Turf

Benny the Butcher has reignited his long-simmering feud with Freddie Gibbs, taking direct aim at the Gary, Indiana rapper on his newly released track “Position of Power.”

In the song, Benny references the infamous 2022 incident in Buffalo where Gibbs was jumped and had his chain snatched, rapping:
“Rumors back home that we took some jewels / Some shit that don’t even cost a ‘B’ on my chain. / Benny the Butcher the reason these rappers can’t eat in this lane.”

Gibbs has yet to respond, but his last jab came in March on “The Big 2,” where he attacked Benny’s health and past shooting:
“You was born an addict, pussy na asthmatic… Na pissed on himself when he got shot.”

The two rappers, once collaborators on critically acclaimed tracks like “Frank Lucas” and “One Way Flight,” have been locked in a bitter war of words since 2021. Their fallout began when Gibbs joked about Benny’s 2020 shooting, sparking a chain of increasingly personal disses — and allegedly, real-world consequences.

In a recent interview, Benny dismissed any idea of reconciliation, stating:
“You don’t do that to people you cool with… I’d look goofy standing next to him.”

Gibbs echoed a similar sentiment:
“I don’t care enough to solve a beef with a rapper. Let them care about that.”

With both artists entrenched in their positions, a truce seems unlikely anytime soon.
