Big Sean saw his family’s history come to life on screen, thanks to Tyler Perry

Big Sean got to witness this event when his family history was made an evident reality on the silver screens. He credits Tyler Perry for the possibility of this event.

On Monday, he walked the red carpet of The Six Triple Eight premiere Netflix movie written and directed by Perry. The film has a profound meaning for Sean as it dramatizes the true event about the all-black and all-female military unit during World War II 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.

Sean’s connection to this story is a little more personal as his late grandmother Mildred Virginia Dupee Leonard was associated with this battalion. In her memory, Sean took her picture with him to the red carpet as Leonard had passed away in 2014.
