Breezy Supports Trump Over Tax Reforms
Chris Brown has supported Donald Trump, praising the president for potential plans to overhaul the IRS. In an Instagram Story, the R&B singer expressed hope that Trump would shut down the IRS, saying, “If he pull that off… PUT THAT MAN ON THE hundred dollar bill.”
While Trump has not proposed shutting down the IRS, his plans for the department include major changes, such as appointing former Republican congressman Billy Long to run it. Long has been an advocate for abolishing the IRS and replacing it with a national sales tax, and Trump has expressed a desire to cut funding to the agency despite its efforts to increase its budget.
Brown’s comment is a shift from his previous criticism of Trump. Back in 2016, during Trump’s first presidential campaign, the singer was outspoken about his disapproval, criticizing Trump and his supporters for their treatment of Black people and voicing concerns over cultural appropriation by white artists.
This new support for Trump comes as many celebrities and artists navigate the political landscape surrounding the former president’s policies.
