Trump reportedly intimidated the Swedish government with trade constraints for Rocky’s release
Swedish Justice Minister says Donald Trump bullied the country into releasing ASAP Rocky from jail in 2019. As reported by TMZ, the minister claims Trump threatened to impose trade restrictions on Sweden if they didn’t let Rocky free.
The minister condemned Trump’s alleged intimidation adding, “If you can try and do something like this against Sweden, what will you then try and do to slightly weaker countries that don’t have the European Union behind them?”
ASAP Rocky was arrested in Stockholm in 2019 after he and his two bodyguards beat up a fan, while the whole incident was being recorded on camera. Rocky and his team claimed the fan harassed them with racial affronts.
In efforts to get Rocky freed, Kanye West reached out to the then president, who then acted. “Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Lofven for being unable to act,” Trump tweeted while showing support to the ‘”D.M.B” rapper.
