The Tesla CEO Takes a Jab at Rapper for Appearing at Trump’s Event
Elon Musk stirred the pot on Sunday when he took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out Snoop Dogg for performing at the Crypto Ball in Washington, D.C. The event, which celebrated President Donald Trump’s second inauguration, saw Snoop share the stage with fellow artists Soulja Boy and Rick Ross.
Musk responded to a clip showing Snoop Dogg’s past criticisms of Trump, writing, “The vibe shift is real” alongside a laughing emoji. The comment highlights the apparent contrast between Snoop’s outspoken condemnation of Trump and his decision to perform at an event honoring him.
Snoop Dogg has long been critical of Trump, especially ahead of the 2020 election when he expressed strong disapproval of the then-president. In a previous statement, Snoop said, “If y’all do vote for him, y’all some stupid motherf*ckers.” Musk’s post seemed to point out the shift in Snoop’s stance, drawing attention to the rapper’s recent performance.
Snoop isn’t the only artist facing backlash for performing at the event. Soulja Boy also defended his decision, admitting that his performance was partly motivated by the financial incentive, saying, “I needed that bag.” Meanwhile, Nelly, who performed at the inauguration ceremony, has similarly faced criticism.
