Eminem used to read the dictionary as a kid to expand his vocabulary
As a kid and during his youth, Eminem would read the dictionary to expand his vocabulary, he dropped out of school during the 9th grade before pursuing his rap career. He would read a normal dictionary given to him by his mother to expand his vocabulary.
During a 60-minutes interview with Anderson Cooper, Eminem revealed he used to always be good at English and he confirmed he read the dictionary. “I heard that you used to read the dictionary,” Anderson Cooper asked, Eminem would reply saying “I wanna be able to have all these words at my disposal, in my vocabulary, at all times, whenever I need to pull them out, somewhere they’ll be stored and locked away”.
In his 2013 single ‘Rap God’, Eminem rapped 9.6 syllables-per-second. In his third verse ‘Godzilla’, Eminem rapped 229 words in 30 seconds.
Eminem coined the term “Stan” which was even added to the Oxford American Dictionary in 2017.
