Eminem’s Mother Debbie Nelson Dies at 69 After Cancer Battle

Eminem’s mother Debbie Nelson died at 69 following a prolonged illness due to lung cancer

According to TMZ, Nelson passed away on Monday night, December 2, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Eminem has not yet released any statement on her demise.

Nelson’s terminal cancer diagnosis broke out in September when it was reported that she was seriously ill and not expected to have much longer to live. In Touch Weekly revealed that she had not been in contact with Eminem for some time, despite the rumor that he had been financially supporting her for years.

Nelson had a history of health problems, which included being diagnosed with breast cancer. “I’m still under doctor’s care, which I probably will be for a while,” she said in a 2018 interview with The Village Voice. A lot of it is hereditary… Cancers, heart disease, and all the genetic things…I worry about my boys, having high blood pressure and things.”

This collapse kills one more crucial chapter in the life of the rapper, who, by his own admission, has always turned back into songs, making the mother one of the main characters of his lyrics. Eminem (a.k.a. Marshall Mathers) typically reminisced about his troubled relationship with his mother.
