Fetty sentenced in his drug trafficking case
Fetty Wap has been hit with a six-year prison bid for his involvement in drug trafficking around Long Island. Per the New York Times, Fetty learned his fate on Wednesday (May 24) after Judge Joanna Seybert sentenced him at the federal court in Central Islip, New York.
The “Trap Queen” rapper had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Prosecutors had been pushing for a longer sentence for the rapper, arguing that he used his influential status to “glamourize dug trade.”
“Young people who admire the defendant and are considering selling drugs need to be sent a message that selling drugs is not a glamorous lifestyle and, if they participate in that trade, they will receive lengthy prison sentences,” U.S. attorney for the Eastern District, Breon Peace, said.
