J. Cole will continue hoop dreams this weekend, making it reality

J. Cole will reportedly play for Rwanda Patriots BBC in the inaugural season of Basketball Africa League, The Undefeated, and ESPN reports.


Born Jermaine Lamarr Cole, the artist flew to Rwanda over the weekend, Rwanda’s The New Times first broke the news on Sunday (May 9) and shared a video of the famed lyricist in the East African country. He is now on self-quarantine in order to be able to participate in the league.

J Cole, 36, is expected to officially sign to the team on Thursday, before playing in the first game of the league on Sunday (May 16).

It is also reported that the “Middle Child” rapper is one of the four possible foreign players to play for the Patriots.


J Cole was a basketball star in Sanford High School (North Carolina) and was a walk-on at St. John’s, but he started focusing on his music career before playing in Division I game.
