Kendrick Lamar’s GKMC to hit major Billboard milestone
Kendrick Lamar’s blockbuster record good kid, m.A.A.d city still reigns as the longest-charting rap album on Billboard 200. According to Billboard, the iconic project is only a week away from becoming the first hip-hop album to chart for 10 years on Billboard 200.
The 3x-platinum album was released in October 2012 via TDE, Aftermath, and Interscope as K-Dot’s sophomore studio album and first major label release. It featured guest appearances from Drake, Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, Jay Rock, Anna Wise, and MC Eiht.
GKMC saw a successful opening week, occupying #2 on Billboard 200 after earning 242k copies. It also scored the highest first week sales for hip-hop albums released by male rappers in 2012.
