Top Dawg teases “movie” performance as SZA joins Lamar for the big stage
Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show is quickly approaching, and anticipation is building for what promises to be an unforgettable performance. Just under two weeks before Super Bowl LIX on February 9 in New Orleans, excitement was further fueled by Top Dawg, the founder of Kendrick’s former label, TDE. On Monday (January 27), Top Dawg shared a sneak peek of the show’s rehearsal, posting a picture on Instagram of him and Kendrick’s longtime manager, Dave Free, overseeing preparations. While no specifics were revealed, Top Dawg teased, “It’s about to be a movie.”
One thing that’s for certain is that Kendrick won’t be flying solo. Last week, it was confirmed that SZA would join him for the highly anticipated performance. A new trailer from Apple Music shows Kendrick on a football field, preparing for the big event, when SZA surprises him with a Gatorade dump, hinting at the energy fans can expect.
This halftime performance will preview Kendrick and SZA’s upcoming Grand National Tour, which kicks off in April. The duo will hit North American arenas for a 23-date run supporting their latest projects. Rumors are also swirling about a potential surprise guest appearance from Tyler, The Creator, adding to the already high expectations for the show.
