Fif’ celebrates box office success and considers new career opportunities
50 Cent is kicking off 2025 on a high note, with Den of Thieves 2 achieving major success at the box office. The action-packed sequel, which 50 Cent produced, raked in $5.8 million on its opening day, surpassing the first film’s $5.6 million debut in 2018. While 50 doesn’t appear onscreen this time, O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Gerard Butler return to reprise their roles. On Instagram, the rapper-turned-producer celebrated the film’s No. 1 debut, writing, “Check me out Den of Thieves 2 🎥 #1 in theaters what away to start 2025.”
In addition to his film success, 50 Cent recently responded to actor and comedian DeRay Davis, who suggested the rapper host the 2025 Emmy Awards. Davis praised 50 for his comedic chops, saying he’d be an ideal candidate for the role. 50 caught wind of the comments and showed interest in the idea, commenting, “@deraydavis this is so cool, you saying this made my day. 2025 is gonna be the year. Turn down for what!”
Although 50 Cent has no previous experience as an awards show host, he’s no stranger to performing, having just wrapped up a limited concert residency in Las Vegas. However, his residency wasn’t without controversy. Popular Sin City blogger Star Fish harshly criticized the show, describing the performance as lacking energy and claiming the sound and stage design were subpar. The review went viral, sparking a response from 50, who defended his style of performance.
50 retorted, “They said the audio was bad… I said, ‘Bitch, you was supposed to say some shit like, ’50 be doing this shit.’” He went on to add, “What you thought, I was gonna be out here rollerblading like Usher? I seen some shit, Chris Brown was flying in Africa. I don’t have records that require me to fly in Africa.”
Despite the mixed review, 50 continues to thrive across multiple industries, showing that he’s still very much at the top of his game.
