Baby recalls Thug’s arrest day
In a candid conversation on Lil Yachty’s A Safe Place podcast, Lil Baby shared a chilling near-miss involving his close friend, Young Thug, and his arrest in May 2022. Baby revealed that he was actually at Thug’s house on the day the YSL rapper was taken into custody as part of the high-profile RICO case.
“I could’ve been with him,” Lil Baby admitted. “I was at his house the same day. Thank God I just happened to leave two hours early.” He described how the experience made him reflect on how easily he could have been involved in the arrest. “That’ll fuck your head up more than anything,” Baby continued. “I gotta see bro go through this [and] that shit really could have been me.”
Lil Baby emphasized the personal nature of his connection with Young Thug, calling him more than just a rap peer—”this is my everyday friend.” He also touched on how Thug’s legal troubles have forced him to reevaluate his life and the lives of those close to him.
The YSL RICO case has also affected other figures in their circle, including Gunna, who was arrested alongside Thug and later released after accepting a plea deal. Gunna’s decision has led to a fallout with Thug, Lil Baby, and many others in their community.
